Forgive Your Debtors
03:00
|
|||
Once I thought I knew what life was all about
Once I thought that I could plainly see
Who owed what to whom was how the game was played
And more important, who owed what to me.
Wisdom borne of pain was my philosophy
By G-d! I had the right to sing the blues
But I found out as sure as you are looking to get even
Someone looks to get even with you.
Through the years I clung to my stories
And so my stories also clung to me
With fingers clutched tightly 'round my prison bars
I demanded and then begged to be set free
Always those words were there before me
Always they were whispering in my ear
Why could I not hear????
Forgive your family, forgive your friends
Forgive everyone who ever was or will be here again.
Forgive yourself. Make some amends
You'll find that life will be much better, if you do
Forgive your debtors.
Everyone's a victim and a saint
We're all heroes, cowards, tricksters … and fools
You could go on looking for someone else to blame
Or listen to the voice inside of you.
When it sets these words are there before you
When it softly whispers in your ear
Till you finally hear...
Forgive them one, forgive them all.
Forgive everyone who pushed you or stood by and let you fall
Forgive yourself first of all.
You'll find that life could be much better. Let it go.
Forgive your debtors.

Remember
02:54
|
|||
If you're overcome by shadows
And the madness of the night
Remember darkness has no substance
It's just the absence of the light.
Take care of yourself
Learn your lessons well
Remem---------ber
I'll always love you.
When the icy winds blow through you
And delight to do you harm
Wrap my love about you
And it will keep you warm
Take care of yourself
Learn your lessons well
Remember
I'll always love you.
Instrumental of the 1st half of the verse
Take care of yourself
Learn your lessons well
Remember
I'll always you love you.

If You Believe
03:09
|
|||
Verse 1:
Let's face it
Sometimes your faith is tested
Sometimes the prize is wrested
from your hands
Verse 2:
Let's face it
Your best friend can let you down
your best plan may not work out
the way you planned
Pre-chorus:
Even in a time of sorrow
Tomorrow can still be sweet
Chorus:
If you believe that love is stronger than evil
If you believe there's reason to
hope
If you believe there can be a better future
And that you will see it
Because you believe.
Verse 3:
Let's face it
Sometimes the news is bad
Sometimes the movie's sad
when it's ended
Verse 4:
Let's face it.
Life can change so fast
A love that was supposed to last
can leave you stranded
Pre-chorus 2:
Even in the darkest crisis
The light is never asleep
Chorus:
If you believe that love is stronger than evil
If you believe there's reason to hope
If you believe there can be a better future
And that you will see it
Because you believe it.
There will be a better future
And you will see it
Because you believe

Anyway
03:14
|
|||
I know
You been watching the world go by
And so often it makes you cry
And wonder if it's worth rising in the morning
But though
It causes you so much pain
Sooner or later it all will change
Like it always does
When everything you counted on, everything you thought was true
Turns around and runs, away from you
What can you do
But
Live your whole life
Give your whole heart anyway
Seek your whole truth
Speak your whole mind anyway
One foot in front of the other
Step by step
Day by day
Anyway you have to.
I know
You want to but you're afraid
But what makes you feel that way
Is the message of fear you hear everyday
But don't
Listen to what they say
Some people live their whole lives that way
But that's not you.
We only get a moment
It won't last
And lots of other hard times were in the past
Your future's up to you
If you
Live your whole life
Give your whole heart anyway
Seek your whole truth
Speak your whole mind anyway
One foot in front of the other
Step by step
Day by day
Anyway you have to.

Sarah Laughed
02:34
|
|||
G-d spoke to Abraham, saying you're no longer young, but We will have a covenant: Pretty soon you'll have a son
And he will found a nation
As numberless as flakes of snow
And when Sarah heard it, she said
"But we are far too old"
And Sarah laughed
Some days a miracle seems probable as taking wing So I just squander time contemplating foolish things Counting drops in a sea of trouble
Sifting grains of shifting sand
Trying to solve the greater puzzle Sometimes I think I understand Why Sarah laughed
Did she laugh cause she lacked faith Or 'cause she just couldn't see any way Getting there from here
Could ever come to pass
If it's so hard to see past a wall across the road
Then I'll just take my leap, and trust my wings to grow Cause life ain't over till it's over, and it ain't over even then Fear is old, but hope is older.
When in doubt, I remember
Sarah laughed

We Carry the Seeds
03:10
|
|||
The new generation will arrive before long
We all hope they grow up smart, straight and tall
But with so many chances for things to go wrong
It's a wonder that anyone grows up at all
Cuz we carry the seeds of our own destruction
I got 'em in me
You got 'em in you
If we carry the seeds of our own destruction
Do we carry the seeds of our salvation too?
We war with our neighbors, though we're all G-d's children
We're often dishonest, though we know we'll get caught
We mistrust one another even when there’s no reason
And worse, we treat love like an afterthought
Cuz we carry the seeds of our own destruction
I got 'em in me
You got 'em in you
If we carry the seeds of our own destruction
Do we carry the seeds of our salvation too?
So where's the salvation? You may well ask
If despite our best efforts, we'll still come to grief?
Maybe life’s both the reward and the task
And love’s the salvation, so I choose to believe
Though I carry the seeds of my own destruction
And I don’t have the answer
And I don’t know the truth
If I carry the seeds of my own destruction
Then surely I carry my salvation too.
We carry the seeds of our own destruction
I got ‘em in me. You got ‘em in you.
If we carry the seeds of our own destruction
Then we carry the seeds of our salvation too.

Gotta Dance
03:23
|
|||
Today I cast away my crutches
Cuz the truth is
I don't need them anymore
Though I had some doubts
Still I shouted
Hallelu-----jah
And I won't care
I'm no Fred Astaire
When I’m out there on the floor
Cuz if I got a choice
And I got a chance
I gotta dance
Today I boxed up my excuses
With other useless things
Took ‘em down to the Goodwill store
And I put "Take a risk"
At the top of my list
of things to do - yeah
And even if I've never
Never ever
Done that step before
If I got a choice
And I got a chance
I gotta dance
Ooh, feels so good
Rockin' out in the real world
Like that scaredy-cat, me, never would!
Today I broke down some walls
And installed
A couple windows and doors
And I can smell the honeysuckle
While I buckle on my shoes - yeah
And I won’t be listenin’
If you’re dismissin'
My dreams anymore
Cuz if I got a choice
And I got a chance
I gotta dance.
I got a choice
And I gotta chance
I think I’m gonna dance.

Life Leaves a Mark
02:47
|
|||
When I was small we had a pine in our front yard
Off the Great Lakes the storms blew
One day I noticed that the pine was leaning hard
Cuz life leaves a mark.
Life leaves a mark (That's when I understood)
Life leaves a mark (From early childhood)
Life leaves a mark.
Bitterness and anger will put lines upon my face
But cheerfulness’ll leave furrows on it too
No matter what I do, I cannot escape
Life leaves a mark.
Life leaves a mark (I’d change that if I could)
Life leaves a mark (Except in Hollywood)
Life leaves a mark.
But do I want to be innocent forever
Eternally naive
No wounds, but no adventures
Only make-believe.
Real life leaves a mark (I always knew it would)
Life leaves a mark (I guess I think it should?)
Life leaves a mark.
Life leaves a mark (It cannot be withstood)
Life leaves a mark (Even if I’m good)
Life leaves a mark oooooh Life leaves a mark.

Maybe It Is
03:09
|

Baby wakes me in the dead of night
Got some dreams to talk about
My best friend tells yous he’s
got trouble in her life
And he’s feeling down and out.
Play my music to a smoky room
Working hard to make it pay
A drunkard thanks me at the
end of a tune
Tells you he may change his ways

Maybe that’s not why we’re here
I had bigger plans
This is not my vision
Maybe that’s not why we’re here,
but then again…
Rosa Parks kept her seat on the bus
Ghandi set his people free
All the heroes were just one of us
Just like you and me
So many faces in so many crowds and
Every face is unique
Touch one soul, or touch one thousand
Either way is oh, so sweet.

Maybe that’s not why we’re here
You had bigger plans
Doesn’t match with your ambition
Maybe that’s not why we’re here,
but then again
Maybe it is
BR
Getting to the point in life
Where I’m thinking of the point
of my life
What I’ve taken, what I’ve earned
What I’ve given in return
Maybe that’s not why we’re here
I don’t know the answer
I don’t have that kind of wisdom
Maybe that’s not why we’re here,
But then again
Maybe it is

Blossom
02:45
|
|||
Creature or human, tree or vine,
Each comes to fruit in its own time.
Oh, let me be a joyful thing,
Surely, sweetly blossoming!
The almond tree outside my door where almond never bloomed before
Is unaware that it should die, so lifts its tender branches high.
Here in this northern early spring, my almond tree is blossoming,
And though the frost may strike it low, the joy it leaves will spread and grow.
Creature...
In deep December's harshest storm, while I clung to my fireside warm,
I saw a redbird light the white and awesome cold with flame in flight.
Although his cousins all had fled I cherish still that cardinal’s red
And hold it to my shivering heart when my world seems to fall apart.
Creature...
The time may seem absurd to some, but I’ll know when my moment's come.
If it is now my hour to sing then sing I will. The greater thing
Is not to have the fairest bloom, but just to give yourself the room
To blossom when it is your time, for then your bloom will surely shine!
Creature...
